Bringing the True Taste of Italy to Naples

Ambrosi & Sons is more than an Italian specialty market and wine bar - it's a celebration of authentic Italian culture, craftsmanship, and hospitality. Founded by longtime Naples resident Rudy Ambrosi, our mission is to connect Southwest Florida with exceptional food and wine from small family-owned producers across Italy, offering discoveries rarely found in traditional retail stores or restaurants.

Inspired by the Ambrosi family's roots in Trentino and Sardinia, food and wine have always been at the center of family, travel, and tradition. Through longstanding relationships with artisans, farmers, and boutique wineries, we carefully curate every product for its authenticity, clean ingredients, and connection to generations of Italian craftsmanship. From estate bottled olive oils and handmade pasta to regional specialties and boutique wines, every item has a story worth sharing.

More than a marketplace, Ambrosi & Sons is an experience. Guests are invited to sip wine while they shop, sample authentic Italian specialties, discover new flavors, and enjoy genuine hospitality in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Whether you're searching for the perfect bottle, preparing a family meal, or simply stopping in to explore, every visit is designed to inspire discovery and celebrate the Italian way of gathering around the table.

That same commitment to craftsmanship extends beyond our market through the Ambrosi family's five-generation tradition of professional knife sharpening, a heritage dating back to New York's Lower East Side in the early 1900s. Like everything we do, it's rooted in quality, precision, and a passion for preserving tradition.
At Ambrosi & Sons, our greatest hope is that every guest leaves having discovered something new and feeling a little closer to Italy.

Benvenuti nella nostra famiglia. Welcome to our family.

Rudy Ambrosi

Biography

Born in Kansas City, he was raised in a family where food, wine, and culture were central to daily life. He spent his summers in his family homes in Sardinia and Trentino, where regional traditions and flavors shaped his passion from an early age. Each day revolved around what would be prepared, shared, and experienced at the table.

His roots trace to both northern and southern Italy. His father was from Trentino, a small ski village in the Italian Alps that was once under Austrian control, while his mother was from a small island off the southwestern coast of Sardinia. They met while his mother was working as a nanny for a family summering in his father's Alpine village. Soon after, they immigrated to Chicago before eventually settling in Kansas City, where Rudy was born and they raised him and his two brothers, Sergio and Giampiero. Although raised in the United States, the family returned to Italy each summer, reinforcing a deep cultural connection. He learned the dialect of Trentino before Italian, and later English.

Following high school, he returned to Italy to play soccer, where he met his wife. After returning to the United States, he spent 14 years in New Providence, New Jersey, where he and his wife started their family. Their two sons were born in New Jersey and later raised in Naples, Florida, where they continued the tradition of spending summers in Italy and developing a deep appreciation for food, wine, and travel. That passion continues into the next generation, with his oldest son now working as a wine importer.

Since relocating to Naples in 1998, he has also carried forward another family legacy: five generations of knife sharpening started in the early 1900s in New York City's Lower East Side, a craft he continues to practice today.

His Italian specialty food and wine market was founded not out of necessity, but from passion. It reflects his commitment to authentic flavors, tradition, and the experience of sharing them with others. What began as a personal pursuit continues to grow, driven by enthusiasm and a genuine love for the culture that inspired it.
